| For generations the Huayao Dais women of China
, who are the kinsmen of Dais, have wrapped themselves in hand-loomed shawls created from cotton dyed the colors of the Altiplano. This lightweight cotton shawl is the same indigenous garment, created in an artisan workshop in Yunnan using a traditional palette of colored stripes.
